Providing centralized psychological assessments for PTSD clinical trials.

Precision Psychological Assessments, LLC, is a women-owned research services company specializing in centralized psychological assessment for PTSD clinical trials, as well as for large-scale forensic projects.

We maintain a centralized pool of highly trained Independent Raters (IRs) with deep expertise in PTSD and related conditions. Our raters conduct high-quality, standardized psychological assessments of research participants via secure video conferencing, allowing sponsors to minimize measurement error, protect scientific integrity, and execute studies efficiently across sites, time zones, and study phases.

Precision was founded to address a core challenge in PTSD research: even the most promising treatments can fail to demonstrate efficacy when outcome measurement is inconsistent, biased, or unreliable. Our work is grounded in the belief that rigorous, independent assessment is essential to advancing the field and bringing effective treatments to individuals suffering from PTSD.

Our Mission

Our mission is to contribute to the development of new and improved treatments for individuals suffering from PTSD.

We do this by providing psychological assessments that exceed industry standards for precision, reliability, and oversight. By minimizing measurement error and diagnostic drift, we help ensure that treatment outcome data accurately reflect participants’ clinical status—maximizing the likelihood that effective interventions demonstrate their true impact.

In short: better measurement leads to better science.

Why precision matters

PTSD clinical trials face unique challenges that place outcome measurement at heightened risk. Symptoms are subjective, disclosure can be influenced by treatment context, and even small inconsistencies or errors in administration or scoring can meaningfully affect statistical power and study conclusions.

No matter how effective a treatment may be, excessive measurement error can:

  • Obscure true treatment effects
  • Reduce the likelihood of detecting statistically significant outcomes
  • Complicate regulatory review and interpretation
  • Lead to inconclusive or misleading results

Precision exists to mitigate these risks. By centralizing assessment within a small, highly trained, and closely monitored rater pool, we help sponsors protect the scientific integrity of their studies and make the most of their investment.

What we do

Why a centralized, independent rater model

Precision uses a centralized, independent rater model rather than site-based assessment. This approach offers several critical advantages, particularly for PTSD studies:

Reduced bias

Independent raters are not involved in treatment delivery and are not embedded within study sites, reducing expectancy effects and subtle pressures to advance participants through screening or treatment phases.

Improved disclosure

Participants often feel more comfortable disclosing sensitive symptoms to assessors who are clearly independent from the treatment team.

Higher reliability

A small, centralized rater pool allows for tighter calibration, continuous reliability monitoring, and rapid correction of administration or scoring drift.

Operational efficiency

Sponsors avoid the substantial time, cost, and logistical burden associated with recruiting, training, and maintaining site-based raters across multiple locations.

Over time, we have seen that centralized assessment is not only more scientifically rigorous, but also more sustainable for complex, multi-site PTSD studies.

How precision is different from CRO rater pools

01.

PTSD-specific focus

We specialize exclusively in PTSD and closely related conditions, such as MDD, AUD, and SUD. This allows for deeper expertise, more nuanced clinical judgment, and more consistent application of diagnostic criteria.

02.

Selective growth

We remain intentionally small to preserve quality, reliability, and close oversight.

03.

Hands-on leadership

Our founders remain directly involved in training, supervision, reliability review, and sponsor communication throughout each study.

02.

Quality over volume

Our model prioritizes measurement precision over throughput, scalability without sacrificing rigor, and long-term reliability rather than short-term staffing solutions.

What we kept—and what we improved

Precision preserves the best practices developed within earlier centralized rater models, including:
• Rigorous rater selection and interviewing
• In-depth, measure-specific training
• Ongoing calibration and reliability exercises
• Structured documentation and scoring review

At the same time, we have made targeted improvements, including:
• Fully electronic and 21 CFR compliant source documentation
• Refined workflows for remote coordination and scheduling
• Scalable staffing models designed to flex during peak enrollment
• Clearer, faster communication pathways with sponsors and sites

The result is a centralized rater pool that is both scientifically rigorous and operationally efficient.
